DANPER RECOGNIZED AS LEADING AGRIBUSINESS COMPANY IN MERCO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE RANKING

10 March, 2022

Headquartered in La Libertad, Peru, the company earned this award for the fourth consecutive year to recognize its shared value-based management model.

Highly reputed consulting firm Monitor Empresarial de Reputación Corporativa (MERCO) recently shared the results of its “MERCO Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance Study Peru 2021” assessment which recognizes the most responsible Peruvian companies for their environmental, social and corporate governance.

Founded 28 years ago, Danper provides more than 13,000 jobs and brings fine Peru-grown fruits and vegetables to markets on five continents. Its management model is based on the principle of creating shared value that matches economic efficiency of investments and profitability with the social progress and growth of its workers, their families and communities.

The recognition earned by the La Libertad-headquartered venture reflects its good practices validated by demanding international certifications, including SA8000 in Human and Labor Rights, EDGE in Gender Equality, OHSAS 18001 in Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 14001 in Environmental Care, AWS in Sustainable Water Use, Fair Trade Certified and among others.

Moreover, Danper recently joined the list of ‘Companies Transforming Peru 2021’, granted last December by IPAE, the Frida and Manuel Delgado Parker Association, USAID, FSG and RPP broadcasting network.

The company earned this recognition after an exhaustive evaluation of its Comprehensive Capacity Training and Development Program (PREDICA), that fosters the development of technical and soft skills and abilities among the vulnerable rural and urban adult people, who lack the academic foundation or experience needed to fill potential available positions.

This program allows these workers to increase their incomes and join the formal labor market under dignified work conditions, and to take advantage of development opportunities, which permits them to enhance their and their families’ quality of life, employability, and competitiveness.

At the same time, the program contributes to boosting the company’s competitiveness, to thus meet the exacting demands of the global vegetables and fine fruits market, while meeting the highest social, environmental, and economic standards.
