DANPER CHALLENGE: LA LIBERTAD REGIONAL GOVERNMENT HIGHLIGHTS INITIATIVE TO FOSTER DYNAMIC REGIONAL INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM

23 September, 2021

In early August, Danper launched its global Danper Challenge call, an open innovation challenge with the potential to transform agribusiness in Peru.

Through September 30, the selection team will receive proposals for ideas to tackle the challenges our industry faces in five key fields, including customer experience, farm productivity, useful life of products, operational efficiency and sustainable value chain.

La Libertad, Peru, September 21, 2021.- A public event at the Casa de la Identidad Regional, attended by Manuel Llempen, regional governor of La Libertad, and Rogger Ruiz, its general manager, highlighted the Danper Challenge as an example of an initiative to boost our industry’s innovation ecosystem.

An initiative launched by Peruvian agribusiness company Danper, co-financed by ProInnóvate, a program under the Ministry of Production, and with significant involvement of Wayra, the corporate investment and open innovation arm of Telefónica Movistar, calls on companies and startups from around the world to come up with innovative ways to address five key challenges faced by Danper and Peru’s agribusiness at large:

Differentiating experiences for customers and consumers: How to improve the quality of life, health and well-being of customers and consumers with products or solutions offering a differentiating experience?

Connected Farm and improved crop yields: How to improve crop yields, avoid waste and make the company smarter and better connected with customers and markets, to create more and better value for all?

Extended product shelf life: How to improve fresh produce shelf life?

Operational Efficiency: How to automate labor intensive, repetitive processes¡? How to run centralized operations monitoring?

Sustainable Value Chain: How to use water and energy, and other resources, more sustainably? How to enhance positive impacts on workers, their families and the operations’ neighboring communities?

The program’s 1.8 million soles budget can provide full financing for up to 10 innovative pilot projects run jointly with Danper, and the opportunity to present before a Wayra investment panel to be included in its portfolio to get scaling up support for the proposed solutions.

Presently in the call for proposals stage, the Danper Challenge will accept applications through September 30. For more details, interested companies can visit the Challenge website at/https://danper.com/challenge/
